About This Song
Chosen Black Sheep is a song about feeling unqualified, overlooked, and out of place — yet being chosen by God anyway.
There are times in life when you feel like the black sheep: not good enough, not polished enough, not spiritual enough, and not qualified for what God is calling you into. But the beauty of grace is that God does not wait for us to qualify ourselves before He calls us.
He chooses the weak, the broken, the unlikely, and the overlooked. Then He shapes them, restores them, and qualifies them by His grace.
This song is my reminder that God saw me when I did not feel worthy. He called me when I did not feel ready. He chose me when I did not feel qualified.
Chosen Black Sheep is a testimony that God qualifies the unqualified — and when He calls you His own, no label from the world gets the final word.
Devotional
The world hands out labels quickly: unqualified, unlikely, out of place. But Scripture is full of black sheep — a shepherd boy anointed king, fishermen made apostles, a persecutor turned preacher. God's pattern has never been to choose the polished; He chooses the willing, and then His grace does the qualifying. If you feel overlooked today, remember that being chosen by God is not a reward for being enough — it is His answer to your not being enough. When He calls you His own, no other label gets the final word.
Lyrics
[Verse 1] I was the one they did not understand The one who stood outside the circle But You saw me, Lord, before anyone else did I tried to fit their perfect frame But grace kept calling out my name [Pre-Chorus] They saw the cracks, You saw the gold They saw a story left untold I was wandering, I was bruised But I was never lost to You [Chorus] I was the black sheep, but You called me chosen I was broken, but Your hands were open They counted me out, but You counted me in Now I walk in the light of mercy again [Verse 2] Every scar became a sign That Your love was there in time Not polished clean, not standing tall But held by grace, and deep in soul [Bridge] Let them say what they say I know who calls my name Let them turn away You remain the same [Final Chorus] I was the black sheep, but You called me chosen I was broken, but Your hands were open They counted me out, but You counted me in Now I walk in the light of mercy again [Ending] They counted me out, but You counted me in Now I walk in the light of mercy again
