About This Song
Ek Glo en Bely begins with a burden carried in silence and the shame that makes asking for help difficult. This is the situation voiced by the lyrics, not a claim that faith requires us to hide our struggle. The turning point comes through hearing about Jesus: the risen One who forgives.
The inspiration is Romans 10:8, where Paul draws on Deuteronomy's language of the word being near, in the mouth and in the heart. This song follows that thought into Romans 10:9–10, concentrating on the response to the message: believing that God raised Jesus from the dead and confessing Him as Lord.
“My hart sê ja, my mond sing saam” brings those two responses together. The heart receives the good news; the mouth gives voice to faith. The second verse turns the message heard into a song of praise, while the bridge moves from “I” to “us,” inviting others to join the confession that Jesus is Lord.
Its joyful declaration is not a test of how loudly or confidently someone can speak. Nor does confessing Jesus earn the forgiveness He gives. The song celebrates grace received through faith: shame need not keep us silent, and the good news we have heard can become words of trust, gratitude and shared worship.

Shame often tells us to carry our burdens alone. It can make another request for help feel impossible. The opening of this song gives that silence a voice, then introduces a different message: Jesus lives, and He forgives.
Romans 10 places hearing at the heart of this change. Paul asks how people can believe in One of whom they have not heard, and says that faith comes through hearing the message about Christ. We do not have to manufacture good news from our own feelings. We receive the announcement of what God has done in Jesus.
In verse 8, the word is near—in the mouth and in the heart. Verses 9–10 describe faith in the God who raised Jesus from the dead and confession of Jesus as Lord. The song answers, “My heart says yes, my mouth sings along.” This is more than agreeing with an idea. It is entrusting ourselves to the risen Lord and acknowledging that we belong to Him.
Confession is not a performance. A hesitant prayer is not less sincere because the voice trembles, and a strong voice does not make empty words true. Heart and mouth are joined in an honest response to Christ. Salvation rests on Him, not on our ability to sound convincing.
The bridge widens the invitation: there is grace for you and for me. Romans 10:12–13 speaks of the same Lord being generous to all who call on Him. The message that reaches one person is good news to share with another—not as a boast about our goodness, but as testimony to His mercy.
Reflect: Is shame keeping you from asking for help or speaking honestly to God? Bring one burden into prayer today. If appropriate, share it with a trustworthy person who can pray with you. Let your confession be simple and sincere: Jesus is Lord; He is risen; my hope is in Him.
