About This Song

Based on 2 Corinthians 3:17, Freedom celebrates the life-changing presence of the Holy Spirit: "Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom."

The song moves from chains to freedom, fear to joy, darkness to light and death to life. It is not merely about emotional release; it is about the spiritual freedom found in Christ — freedom from condemnation, shame and the power of sin.

With its joyful chorus and energetic drops, Freedom represents liberation. It is an invitation to dance, praise and live as people who have been made new by the grace of God.

Chains come down. Hearts come alive. Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.

Devotional

The freedom the Spirit brings is not the freedom to do anything; it is the freedom to finally live as we were made to live. Paul wrote that where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom — freedom from the veil, from condemnation, from the exhausting project of earning what grace has already given (Romans 8:1–2).

Chains rarely announce themselves as chains. They call themselves habits, reputations, old wounds, quiet fears. But when the Spirit of the Lord fills a room — or a heart — what is bound comes loose.

At midnight in a Philippian jail, Paul and Silas sang, and the chains fell off every prisoner in the place (Acts 16:25–26). Praise and freedom have always travelled together.

Spirit of the living God, fill this place. Bring down every chain we've stopped noticing, and teach us to live — and dance — like people You have set free. Amen.
