God Will Make a Way is the musical's dark chapter, sung in Joseph's voice. An angel wakes him at night: rise, take the child, flee — Herod seeks His life. The song walks the road most nativity plays skip: leaving Bethlehem under pale starlight, desert roads and shifting sand, exile in Egypt, and the long wait "until God named the homeward day."
The chorus is the family's survival song, and the promise the whole album has been building: God will make a way, through the night and into day. Verse by verse, He does — Herod dies, the word comes, a dream redirects them from Judea to Galilee, and in Nazareth the travels finally cease, "and there the child grew strong in peace" (Matthew 2:19–23, Luke 2:40). The bridge draws the lesson kings keep failing to learn: thrones rise and fall; the Lord remains over all. No earthly power could touch a child guarded by His hand.

"So he got up, took the child and his mother during the night and left for Egypt" (Matthew 2:14).
It is easy to forget that the Christmas story includes a refugee family fleeing a murderous ruler by night. God's promise did not spare Joseph and Mary the danger — it carried them through it. That is usually how "God will make a way" works: not a detour around the darkness, but a guided road through it.
Notice Joseph's pattern, for the third time in the story: God speaks, Joseph gets up and goes — that same night. No argument, no delay. Obedience at once is what kept the child safe. And notice God's timing on the other end: the family stays in Egypt "until I tell you." The way home was as much God's to name as the way out.
Herod had soldiers, a throne, and a plan. The carpenter had a dream and an obedient heart — and the carpenter's family outlasted the king. "No earthly king could change His plan." Whatever pursues you into the night, the God who guarded Bethlehem's child still makes a way, through the danger, through the night, and — in His time — into day.
