About This Song
Hallelujah, We Are Yours brings together thanksgiving for Christ’s saving work and confidence in His enduring love. The opening verse recalls the cross and resurrection: Jesus bore our sins, and the debt we could not settle has been dealt with through Him. The response is grateful worship, not a claim to have earned a place with God.
The second verse makes room for trouble rather than pretending faith removes it. Long nights and rising storms become the setting for a confession of belonging: “Yet we are Yours.” This assurance rests on the faithfulness of Christ, not on the strength of a passing feeling.
The bridge echoes Romans 8:35–39, where Paul names suffering, death, life and spiritual powers before declaring that nothing in creation can separate believers from God’s love in Christ Jesus. The passage does not promise an easy life; it proclaims a love that suffering cannot defeat.
The repeated hallelujah turns that assurance into shared praise. From the first expression of gratitude to the final declaration of belonging, the song points to Christ as the reason His people can rise and sing.
Devotional
Held in His Love
Read Romans 8:31–39 and Colossians 2:13–14. When Paul speaks of assurance, he points first to what God has done. God did not spare His own Son; Christ died, was raised and intercedes for His people. Our confidence begins there, not in how convincingly we can silence every fear.
“The debt is paid” gives grateful hearts a reason to worship. Colossians describes forgiveness and the cancelling of the record of debt through the cross. We do not have to offer God an impressive performance to make Christ’s work sufficient. We come in faith, confessing our need and receiving His grace.
Romans 8 does not hide the hardships believers face. Trouble, persecution, hunger and danger appear within its declaration of hope. Being held in Christ’s love does not mean that grief is unreal or that asking for help shows weak faith. It means that hardship is not evidence that His love has abandoned us.
Name one fear you are carrying today. Read Romans 8:38–39 slowly, and bring that fear honestly to God. Then take one faithful step: ask someone to pray with you, receive practical support, or encourage a person facing a long and difficult season. Praise can grow alongside tears.
“We are Yours” is both comfort and a response of allegiance. Because we belong to Christ, we can turn toward Him in obedience and extend His kindness to others. We praise Him not because every circumstance has changed, but because His saving love remains trustworthy.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank You for bearing our sins and rising again. When trouble comes, help us rest in Your love without denying our pain. Teach us to receive help, encourage one another and follow You faithfully. With grateful hearts, we worship You. Amen.
