About This Song

Make Room for One More turns a playground moment into a practical lesson in welcome. A new child waits beside the wall; instead of carrying on without them, someone stops, smiles and invites them into the game.

The second verse moves from inclusion to care: when someone falls, a friend stays nearby and gets help. The chorus asks Jesus to make His love visible in both words and actions. A wave, a name learned, a place offered and a helping hand become ways children can practise kindness.

Devotional

A Place Beside Me

Romans 15:7 connects the way we welcome people with the welcome we have received from Christ. We do not have to wait for someone to become our friend before treating them with kindness.

Look around the playground, classroom or children's group. Is someone watching from the edge? You can smile, introduce yourself and ask whether they would like to join in. Welcome is an invitation, not pressure; kindness also respects another person's answer.

If someone is hurt, stay nearby when it is safe and get a trusted adult to help. You do not need to know how to fix everything to show that you care.

Try this: Learn one person's name today and offer them a place beside you.

Prayer: Jesus, thank You for welcoming us. Help me notice people who feel left out and show Your love with my words and actions. Amen.

Lyrics

[Verse 1]
A new kid stands beside the wall
And watches as we kick the ball
I stop and smile, “I’m glad you came!
Come on in and join our game!”

[Chorus]
Make room, make room!
Room for one more!
Come and sit beside me
That’s what friends are for!
Jesus, help us love
In what we do and say
Make room, make room!
Let’s show Your love today!

[Verse 2]
When someone falls beside the slide
I stop and stay there by their side
I get some help and show I care
God’s love is something we can share

[Chorus]
Make room, make room!
Room for one more!
Come and sit beside me
That’s what friends are for!
Jesus, help us love
In what we do and say
Make room, make room!
Let’s show Your love today!

[Bridge]
Wave hello and learn a name
Let somebody join the game
Helping hands and kindness too
Jesus, make us more like You

[Final chorus]
Make room, make room!
Room for one more!
Come and sit beside me
That’s what friends are for!
Jesus, help us love
In what we do and say
Make room, make room!
Let’s show Your love today!

[Outro]
There’s a place beside me
Room for one more!
