About This Song

Safe in Your Hand closes the EP with John 10's crowning promise — the double grip. Jesus says no one will snatch His sheep out of His hand, and then adds that no one can snatch them out of the Father's hand either. The sheep is held twice.

The song rests there rather than argues from there. The opening hook is the whole message in four lines: safe in Your hand, here I will stand; nothing can take me out of Your hand. Verse one gathers the chapter's gifts — "You give me life, You call me Your own, You walk on before me, I never walk alone." Verse two faces the shaking honestly: darkness draws near, the world may be shaken, the kingdoms may fall — "but You are my refuge, the Lord over all." And the bridge lets the flock simply name what the Shepherd does, two words at a time: You hold me, You know me, You guard me, You lead me — I'm never alone.

Devotional

"No one will snatch them out of my hand… no one can snatch them out of my Father's hand" (John 10:28–29).

The believer's security is described here twice, and both times the grip belongs to God. Jesus does not say the sheep will hold on tightly enough; He says no one can snatch. The hand doing the keeping is not yours.

That distinction carries a lifetime of peace. If your safety depended on the strength of your grip on Christ, every weak day, every doubting night, every stumble would put your soul in question. But the sheep of John 10 is held — by the Son, and behind the Son, by the Father who "is greater than all". Two hands, one unbreakable hold.

Notice too what Jesus gives before He guards: "I give them eternal life." The hand that holds you is the hand that was pierced for you — He is not reluctantly keeping a stranger but protecting what He bought (1 Peter 1:18–19). Kingdoms may fall; the promise is clear. Here you may stand: safe, held, and never alone.

You hold me
Your promise will stand

Jesus, my Shepherd

I will not fear
You stand here beside me
Your promise is clear
