About This Song

Talk to God About It begins with the nervous excitement of a new class and a new day. A child pauses to pray, then learns that prayer also has room for thanks: food, caring friends and small joys.

The chorus reassures children that they do not need perfect words to come to God. The bridge adds an important truth: His answer may differ from what they expected, yet they can trust His faithfulness. The EP ends with a sung prayer asking the Father for guidance and help to love.

Devotional

You Can Bring Your Whole Day

Philippians 4:6 invites us to bring our requests to God with thanksgiving. A new classroom, a worry about a friend and a happy moment at home can all become part of prayer.

You do not need a long speech or special words. You can say, “Father, I'm worried,” “Please help me,” or “Thank You for today.” God cares about the person praying, not how impressive the prayer sounds.

Prayer is not a promise that everything will happen exactly as we ask. The song's bridge reminds us that God's answer may be different from what we expected. We can keep talking to Him and take the next wise step. If you are frightened or need help, tell a trusted adult too; prayer and asking people for support belong together.

Try this: At bedtime, share one thank-You, one worry and one request with God.

Prayer: Father, thank You for hearing me. Help me bring You my happy moments and my worries, trust Your care, and follow Your way today. Amen.

Lyrics

[Verse 1]
My bag is packed, my shoes are tied
I’ve got those butterflies inside
A brand-new class, a brand-new day
I take a breath and start to pray

[Chorus]
Talk to God about it
Tell Him what’s on your mind
You don’t need the perfect words
He is loving, He is kind
When you’re glad or when you’re worried
You can come to Him and pray
Talk to God about it
He will hear you every day

[Verse 2]
When good things happen in my day
I’ve got a thank-You prayer to say
For food to eat and friends who care
And little joys that we can share

[Chorus]
Talk to God about it
Tell Him what’s on your mind
You don’t need the perfect words
He is loving, He is kind
When you’re glad or when you’re worried
You can come to Him and pray
Talk to God about it
He will hear you every day

[Bridge]
You may answer differently
From the way I thought You would
I can trust You with tomorrow
You are faithful, You are good

[Final chorus]
Talk to God about it
Tell Him what’s on your mind
You don’t need the perfect words
He is loving, He is kind
When you’re glad or when you’re worried
You can come to Him and pray
Talk to God about it
He will hear you every day

[Outro — sung prayer]
Father, thank You for today
Guide my steps along Your way
Help me love in all I do
I can always talk to You
