About This Song
Yeshua HaMashiach was inspired by a moment of prayer at the 2026 C12 conference. A woman prayed with a conviction the writer described as that of a prayer warrior, calling on the name of Yeshua HaMashiach. Hearing her pray felt deeply powerful and became the starting point for a song of reverence toward Jesus, the promised Messiah.
Yeshua is a Hebrew form of the name rendered Jesus in English. HaMashiach means “the Messiah,” or “the Anointed One”; Christ expresses the same title through Greek. The song is therefore not addressing a different Saviour, but confessing Jesus as the Christ, the Son of the living God. Its confidence rests in who He is, not in one language being more effective in prayer than another.
The verses trace the promise of the Messiah through His coming, suffering and resurrection. Matthew 1:1 and 1:23 connect Jesus with David’s line and the promise of Immanuel, God with us. Luke 2:30–32 presents Him as salvation, a light for the nations and the glory of Israel. Isaiah 53:5 supplies the language of being pierced for transgressions, while the resurrection turns the song from the cross toward the victory of the risen Lord.
The chorus brings together Peter’s confession in Matthew 16:16 and Jesus’ words in John 14:6. The bridge echoes Philippians 2:9–11, where every knee bows and every tongue acknowledges Jesus Christ as Lord, to the glory of God the Father. From its quiet opening to its congregational refrain, the song directs worship to the crucified and risen King.
Devotional
When we pray in Jesus’ name, our confidence is in the One we approach through Him.
The prayer heard at the 2026 C12 conference drew attention to the name Yeshua HaMashiach: Jesus the Messiah. A familiar truth can become newly vivid when spoken with reverence and conviction. Yet the strength of Christian prayer does not depend on finding a more powerful pronunciation or using a particular language. It rests in Jesus Himself—His character, His authority and His saving work.
In Matthew 16:16, Peter confesses Jesus as the Christ, the Son of the living God. Christ is not a surname; it is the title Messiah, the Anointed One. The song invites us to consider whom we are naming: the promised Son of David, the Saviour who gave Himself for sinners and the Lord who rose from the dead.
John 14:6 identifies Jesus as the way, the truth and the life. Later in that chapter, verses 13–14 connect asking in His name with the Father being glorified in the Son. First John 5:14 adds the assurance that God hears us as we ask according to His will. Praying in Jesus’ name is therefore more than adding words at the end of a request. It means coming through Him, trusting Him and allowing our desires to be shaped by His will.
Philippians 2:5–11 joins His exaltation to His humility and obedience, even to death on a cross. The Lord before whom every knee will bow is the Saviour who gave Himself in love. Reverence and confidence belong together: we do not command Him, but we can approach God through Him with trust.
Before your next request, pause over one truth about Jesus from these passages. Thank Him for who He is. Then bring your need honestly, asking that His will be done and the Father be glorified, whether you call Him Jesus or Yeshua.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God. Thank You for Your cross, Your resurrection and the way You bring us to the Father. Teach us to pray with reverence, confidence and surrender. Let our lives honour Your name and our desires be shaped by Your will. Amen.
