"He lifted me out of the slimy pit... he set my feet on a rock... He put a new song in my mouth" (Psalm 40:2–3).
Notice the order. David does not sing himself out of the pit — God lifts him out first, and the new song follows. Grace comes before the anthem.
"When I was low, You raised me up" is the whole gospel in one line: we do not climb, we are lifted.
Reflect: Where are you trying to climb out on your own strength this week? Ask to be lifted instead — and keep a new song ready for when He does.
