About This Song
I Have Seen the Lord tells Easter morning through Mary Magdalene’s eyes. She arrives under a mourning sky, finds the stone moved, and remains weeping after the others leave. Grief prevents her from recognizing Jesus until He speaks her name. That one living sound transforms the garden: tears become testimony, mourning becomes mission, and Mary carries resurrection hope beyond the garden wall. The song honours the first Easter witness and the simple, world-changing announcement entrusted to her: “I have seen the Lord.”
Devotional
“Jesus said to her, ‘Mary.’ She turned toward him and cried out… ‘Teacher!’” (John 20:16).
Mary stood near the empty tomb but could not yet see what had happened. Tears narrowed her world until the risen Jesus spoke her name. Resurrection became personal before it became proclamation.
Then Christ sent her: “Go to my brothers and tell them.” Mary Magdalene became the first witness to announce the risen Lord to the disciples. She carried no title, weapon, or worldly authority—only an encounter and a message: “I have seen the Lord!”
Jesus still meets people in grief, calls them by name, and turns restored hearts outward. Christian witness is not boasting that we understand everything. It is faithfully speaking of the One who was dead and is alive.
Reflect: Where might grief be veiling your sight? Ask Jesus to make His presence known, then consider who needs to hear the hope He has entrusted to you.
Lyrics
[Intro — Low Female Contralto Solo] I walked beneath a mourning sky To where I watched my Saviour die The stone was moved, the entrance bare I searched the dark—He was not there [Deep War Drums Enter] [Verse 1 — Female Contralto Solo] I ran to tell them what I’d seen The empty place, the linen clean They came and looked, then left once more But I stood weeping at the door Two angels shone in robes of white Where death had lain throughout the night They asked me why my tears still poured “They’ve taken Him—my King, my Lord” [Pre-Chorus — Female Contralto Solo] I turned and saw Him standing near But grief had veiled my eyes with tears I thought He kept the garden ground Until He spoke one living sound He called my name—the dark was done I knew the voice of God’s own Son [Chorus — Powerful Female Vocal] I have seen the Lord! The stone is rolled away I have seen the Lord! Death could not make Him stay Let the hills receive the sound Let the thunder shake the ground Jesus Christ is risen I have seen the Lord! [Post-Chorus — Female War Chant] He called my name I know His voice The grave lies empty Let earth rejoice [Massive Tribal Drum Break] [Verse 2 — Female Contralto Solo] No Roman seal, no guarded stone Could hold the everlasting One No borrowed tomb, no veil of night Could keep the Author of all life I stood before Him trembling there He sent me out His news to bear I ran beyond the garden wall To speak the living word to all [Pre-Chorus — Female Contralto Solo] No sword in hand, no crown I wore But resurrection was my roar The morning broke, the shadows fled I carried life where hope lay dead [Chorus — Powerful Female Vocal] I have seen the Lord! The stone is rolled away I have seen the Lord! Death could not make Him stay Let the hills receive the sound Let the thunder shake the ground Jesus Christ is risen I have seen the Lord! [Heavy Tagelharpa and War Drum Build] [Bridge — Rhythmic Female War Chant] I came in grief—I left in flame He spoke my name—I’ll speak His name I came in tears—I left restored I came to mourn—I saw the Lord The Lamb was slain, yet lives again The grave has lost, the King shall reign The Lamb was slain, yet lives again The risen Christ forever reigns [Massive War Drum Solo] [Final Declaration — Powerful Female Contralto] Now every nation, hear me say: The stone before the tomb gave way The One they pierced, the One who died Now lives forever, glorified! [Final Chorus — Thunderous Female Vocal] I have seen the Lord! The stone is rolled away I have seen the Lord! Death could not make Him stay Let the hills receive the sound Let the thunder shake the ground Jesus Christ is risen I have seen the Lord! I have seen the Lord! I have seen the Lord! Jesus Christ is risen! I have seen the Lord! [Outro — Low Female Contralto] He called my name I know His voice The King is living Let earth rejoice [Single Thunderous Drum Hit]
