About This Release

The disciples watched Jesus do many things. They watched Him heal the sick, calm the storm, and feed thousands with a boy's small lunch. Yet the Gospels record only one thing they ever asked Him to teach them: "Lord, teach us to pray."

They had grown up around prayer. They knew the synagogue prayers, the festival prayers, the prayers of their fathers. But when they watched Jesus pray, they saw something different — not a duty being performed, but a Son speaking with His Father. And they wanted that.

This album was born from the same request. Five songs, each one a prayer the Scriptures already gave us: the desperate father's cry in Mark 9, the daily bread of Matthew 6, David's plea for direction in Psalm 25, his broken confession in Psalm 51, and the prayer the Lord Himself taught. None of these prayers are polished. All of them are honest.

The hope behind this collection is simple: that these songs would not just be listened to, but prayed. That somewhere, someone who has forgotten how to pray — or never knew — would borrow these ancient words and find that the Father was listening all along.

Devotional

Notice what the disciple did not ask. Not "teach us to preach." Not "teach us to do miracles." He asked for the one thing that explained everything else about Jesus: His prayer life.

Prayer is not a skill for the spiritually advanced. It is the native language of every child of God — and like any language, it is learned by listening and repeating. That is why Jesus answered the request not with a technique but with words: "When you pray, say: Father…"

If prayer feels awkward or distant today, start where the disciples started. Borrow the words. Pray the prayers of Scripture until they become your own. The Father is not grading your eloquence; He is listening for your voice.

Lord, teach us to pray. Not to impress You — just to be with You. Amen.
